Tick-tock-tick-tock…

The clock is ticking and our departure is getting closer. 37 days to go…

There has been some development since the last post:

  1. We have finally finalised out flights!
  2. We are now departing on 2 September and not on the 1st as initially planned
  3. We are in the process of getting our Visas for Vietnam
  4. We received our new maxi passports
  5. Our itinerary has changed - we are not going to Australia anymore

Then again, there are things that still have not changed (even though it should have…):

  1. Eon still does not have a back-pack :)
  2. We still do not have someone to rent our place to
  3. I still need to find a buyer for me car
  4. Many other Visas to organise

On the bright side - the excitement is growing as we are approaching the last month of the countdown. We have bought The Rough Guide to Vietnam and are steadily making our way through the 639 pages.

As we are starting with the goodbye’s, we are more and more encountering comments from friends and colleagues about how obscure they think this whole trip and idea is. On the one hand, my logical side of my brain is screaming “what are you doing?! Taking off for a year, doing nothing for a year, giving up everything that you have been working for these last 10 years?!” and on the other hand I have this unexplainable urge to just be free of responsibilities for a year, explore and experience life through other people’s eyes… I’ll remember to discuss this topic in more depth when we return from our trip :)
