I think that if one could take all the emotions at an airport (queuing anger, teary goodbyes, glorious hallo’s and extreme excitement) and mould it into electricity, we would be able to light-up a storm! So after some tears, we proceeded to Check-in and this journey began!
After begging the lady at the check in counter for two seats next to each other, I felt like kissing her when she managed to get us the last to available ones. The kissing-urge quickly changed to a strangling one when we found our seats to be right next to the toilet
But now we are here and our journey begins! Arriving in a VERY hot and humid Hong Kong has really put us into that “holiday mood” - it is almost like December holidays at the east coast of South Africa! We managed to find our Hostel (it took a while, but we were prepared for that!).
Things to be thankful for - a clean bed, western toilet, shower, TV and wireless in our room, and also the fact that our room does NOT have a view. Yes, we are thankful that we do not have any windows as the view is absolutely DISGUSTING! Nevertheless, we are on the first leg of our tour and everything ran smoothly up to now. It is also great that we have been to Hong Kong before, because we are familiar with the smells, MTR (tube system), millions of people, spitting, no queuing, overwhelming traffic and weird food. For a first time visitor, these things can be very daunting.
After checking into the hostel, we went to Electronics Street to start our shopping (more Eon’s shopping than Chantell’s). We managed to find a notebook and camera at a great price (were wanting to buy the 40D, but it is totally out of stock, so we opted for the Canon 400D. Hopefully we can upgrade when we stop here again). Have I mentioned that Eon FINALLY bought a back pack?! (a day before departure…..)
CHANTELL: Eon bought the Deuter 80 litre travel bag. Our bags weighed only 11kg’s at check-in (Chantell is very proud).Tomorrow we are off to Hanoi to start our trip through Vietnam! I’m still installing all the camera software; hope to publish some photos soon!
